  1. Mix your own

    Layer as many sounds as you like and set the volume of each one. Loops crossfade, so there is never a gap or a click.

  2. Sound in 3D

    Drag each sound around a top-down stage to place it in front of, behind, left or right of you. Best with headphones.

  3. Spatial motion

    Let a sound move on its own. Choose a path, set the speed and the direction, and it travels around you while you drift off.

    Name a blend and keep it, with every volume and position. Tap it later and it plays straight away.

    Choose 5 minutes to an hour. When time is up, the sound fades out and pauses by itself.

Questions, answered.

What is RelaxMix?

RelaxMix is a mobile app for relaxing with sound. You pick calming sounds such as rain, a river or a crackling fire, play several at once, and shape them into a mix you can sleep, work or unwind to.

Is RelaxMix free?

Yes. Every sound, the 3D stage, saved mixes and the sleep timer are included, with no account and no subscription.

How does the 3D sound work?

Each sound sits on a top-down stage with you in the middle. Drag it in front of, behind, left of or right of you, and use the height slider to lift it above you. The app pans the sound and softens it with distance, so headphones are recommended. You can also give a sound a motion path, such as an orbit or a sweep, and it moves around you by itself.

Does the sleep timer stop the sound by itself?

Yes. Choose 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes, 1 hour, or any length from 1 to 60 minutes. A ring around the play button drains as time passes, and when it runs out the sound fades away over a few seconds and pauses. The timer waits while you are paused.

Will the sounds loop without a gap?

Yes. Each pass of a sound starts a few seconds before the previous one ends and the two crossfade, so you never hear a click or a pause where the file restarts.

Can I save my own mixes?

Yes. Tap Save mix in the player and name it, for example "Rainy night cabin". Every volume and 3D position is saved with it, and you can play it again with one tap.

Where do the sounds come from?

The sounds come from Pixabay and are used under the Pixabay Content License. The way RelaxMix layers, positions and times them is part of the app.

Which phones does it run on?

RelaxMix is coming soon to Android on Google Play. An iOS version is planned, and donations help cover the Apple Developer account it needs.

Does it play with the screen locked?

Not yet. Background playback and lock-screen controls are next on the list, along with more sounds.
